About The Third Look
Bullying and body shaming are 24/7 problems. They start the day at school and then move on to social media.
My name is Valerie, and I'm a junior. Being in a small high school class of only 90 kids, I closely see how this really hurts people, especially girls. I wanted to figure out how other people overcame bullying and body shaming so I could help wonderful girls who think they're alone and their life is falling apart.
I was originally going to do this as a science fair project, but it was canceled. So I decided to DYI it (with help from friends, teachers, Girl Scouts, and so forth) by interviewing and surveying about 350 people (mostly from around the US) who successfully overcame bullying and body shaming when they were young.

I found there were three things they seemed to do in one way or another.
First, they looked inward at themselves: Who they were, what their strengths and values were, or where they could improve.
Second, they looked outward at others: How can they build stronger relationships at home or with new friends, how they can give or exceed in areas outside of school, or how they could deal with toxic people or social media.
Third, they looked forward at their future: At what success stories they could imagine for their future, how could they really use their talents, how could they give the most to the world, and how they could grow into who they wanted to be.
Looking forward is The Third Look. It's where people look at where they want to go and who they want to help as they move forward to great things.

The Third Look is a support community to help young girls overcome bullying and body shaming and move on to these great things. It's a place where I will share what I'm learning, and it's a place where they can share what they are doing to look inward, outward, and then forward (which is The Third Look).
Join our social media and you'll see real quotes from women who have recovered and thrived after been bullied and body shamed when they were younger.
As we discover new ideas from successful people, I work with teachers, counselors, and researchers to turn them into tools and exercises to help you look inward, outward, and forward.
